The Coronation of King Charles

First Steps baby crown

At First Steps Nursery, we had a fantastic week celebrating the Coronation of King Charles. During the week the children enjoyed a variety of different activities, from making crowns to creating bunting for their rooms. In addition, our preschool children have been learning some fun facts about the new King during their circle times. Our older children have also enjoyed some royal role play activities where they have become Kings and Queens themselves.

We learnt about the colours of our flag and the children were very excited to come dressed in these colours on Wednesday for our Coronation garden party. This was a fantastic opportunity for the whole nursery to come together and celebrate. The children all wore the beautiful crowns they created and joined together in the nursery garden for a party lunch. It was lovely for our youngest and eldest children to be together and it was fantastic to see our preschool children interacting with the babies. Lauren made everyone a yummy party lunch which the children thoroughly enjoyed eating.

Lots of fun was had dancing to music, playing with balloons and socialising altogether. The children looked brilliant in their outfits and really got into the party spirit with some face painting. It was a fantastic afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed by all of the children and the First Steps team. All of our celebrations have enabled the children to develop their understanding and knowledge of the world and have opportunities for social interaction.
