The Little Team With Mighty Hearts

Small and Mighty

We’re a small, dedicated team of amazing people, here at First Steps Nursery. We care about our community, as much we do care for your little ones. This is one of the many reasons we went the extra mile to support our local community over the past 9 months.

By now we’re done with talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, however, with it taking over everyone’s lives for the last 9 months, the vast majority of 2020, it’s been quite hard not to bring it up in conversation… So, let’s pop a positive spin on it and talk about all the AMAZING things that have happened and how we and the communities we serve have been brought closer together.

Many of our parent clients work as key workers. Incredible people on the front line of this virus, helping to save lives in Poole Hospital as nurses, doctors and paramedics. Policemen and women, and firefighters all of which care for our communities. Teachers supporting our children through new technologies with an extreme ‘virtual’ change to children’s learning. Care workers, key workers, the list of amazing front line workers goes on. We thank each and every one of them and we have been here to support key workers children during this tricky time.

Giving back to the community

As we are for our clients, we were overwhelmed by the support of our loyal customers and the local community. With big and thankful hearts, we decided we would like to do something to give back to some of the fantastic charities we have been involved with in the past.

  • In the month of September, we held an NHS Rainbow week to raise lots of money for the Children’s ward at Poole Hospital. We were amazed to have smashed our £500 target on day one! So, we didn’t stop there and overall, we raised an incredible £1077.

Our rainbow week included lots of rainbow craft, singing, dancing and of course dressing up in as many rainbow colours as possible. Read more, here.

  • This month we raised £640 for Children in Need with a sponsored sing and sign DVD and we were also lucky enough to appear in BBC’s Children in Need show with a video of us all singing! Did you spot us? If you did, we would love to hear from you. Drop us a message on our Facebook page.

  • We are also an official drop off point for Hope for Food and take all of the donations once a month to the incredible charity.

We strongly believe that supporting your local community means everything, be it fundraising for local charities, helping a neighbour with their shopping or something as simple as a friendly wave on the school run. A moto the team try to live by and why our little team have big hearts.

We won’t stop

We won’t stop there and will continue to raise as much money as possible for all of the amazing charities. Thank you to everyone who has shared and donated to our pages this year and if you have any fundraising ideas or local community programmes you would like First Steps Nursery to be involved in, please get in touch at enquiries@firststepsnursery.net or give us a call on 01202 675009.
