First Steps fully inclusive Fees and charges
Our fees include all food, drinks and snacks and we also provide Little Angel nappies and wipes within our fees.
Your monthly fees are calculated on application and are due on or before your child’s first day at nursery. Your first month will be calendar monthly for the sessions attended, then subsequent fees will be at the fixed monthly fee for your sessions booked.
Monthly fees are calculated over the full year (52 weeks of the year, including Bank Holidays & Christmas Closure) and divided into 12 equal monthly with payments to be paid by Direct Debit on the last day of the month in advance for the following month. We also accept Tax Free Childcare payments towards your fees.
We will give you your personal fee quote based on the number of sessions you require including any Early Education Funding discount, when you have your tour of the Nursery.
Once you are eligible for the government 2-, 3- and 4-year-old funding, the fees charged are for the additional services and consumables that the government funding does not cover. Please note that the government only funds during term time so your fees will be calculated over the full year taking this into account.

Have you ever wondered why childcare is so expensive?
A typical childcare setting will have huge overheads, such as rent/mortgage, utility costs. equipment costs, resources, business rates, salaries, training, professional licences and memberships, catering costs and more. As with everything at the moment those costs are rising, and therefore so are childcare fees.
In most nurseries the payroll is very high, due to the adult to child ratio needed, as well as rising minimum wages that push all the salaries higher, and increased pension contributions. At First Steps we employ a team of highly qualified childcare professionals who deserve to be paid above the minimum wage threshold. First Steps strives to provide the highest standards of childcare and education and is a privately owned company that must be sustainable and reasonably profitable to be commercially viable.
