Easter at First Steps Nursery

Easter festivities have been in full swing here at First Steps in Poole. Across all our rooms age appropriate Easter activities have been taking place and every child has gone home with some Easter crafts which we hope you have enjoyed seeing.

Our youngest children have enjoyed lots of Easter crafts from bunny hand and footprint pictures to colouring in their own Easter eggs. These craft activities enable our youngest children to develop their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination as well as develop the first skills in their mark making journey.

Over in our term time preschool we have enjoyed an Easter bonnet competition it was lovely to see so many children bring in their creations they had made at home and they were very proud to show them off to their friends. We have also enjoyed creating our own Easter baskets which we took on our hunt to collect our eggs. The children did a fantastic job hunting all their eggs and working as a team to find them.

In nursery preschool we have put our baking skills to the test the children set out to make their very own bread rolls. Tiff and some of the children headed to our local shop to purchase all the ingredients for their bread. We then came back and did an excellent job of measuring our mixing and then kneading our dough. We were very impressed with how yummy our bread turned out. We have also made some fantastic Easter cards to take home and share with our families.

Learning to celebrate and value cultural, religious and community events and experiences are key values of the seven areas of learning in the EYFS. Studying the Easter story at nursery helps to understand the world, including other cultures and traditions. As part of our Easter theme, we have also focused on the beginning of spring, the growth of new flowers and plants, and the change in seasons and birth of new baby animals.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a very Happy Easter break however you are choosing to celebrate.
