From its humble beginnings in 2010 to becoming a vibrant hub for local families, this milestone is a testament to the love, care, and dedication poured into the community over the years. So, let’s take a delightful stroll down memory lane and celebrate all the magic this nursery has brought to the neighbourhood.

A Transformative Beginning

Once upon a time (okay, 2010), the Oakdale Methodist Church underwent a brilliant transformation. With a sprinkle of imagination and a heap of hard work, it was converted into a bright and spacious nursery, tailor-made for little ones to take their first steps into a world of discovery and learning. Local families quickly embraced this welcoming space, making it their go-to haven for their children’s care and education.

Growing with the Community

As the nursery’s reputation blossomed, so did its needs. By 2014, First Steps Nursery had outgrown its original space and responded with an exciting expansion—a modular building! This new addition brought even more opportunities for preschoolers to explore, thrive, and prepare for their next big adventures. It also became the home for the nursery’s hugely popular holiday club, where countless children have made unforgettable memories during their school breaks.

A Day of Fun and Laughter 🎉

The First Steps Nursery team in Oakdale pulled out all the stops to mark their 15th birthday in spectacular style. With a mix of entertainment, treats, and heartfelt reunions, the celebrations truly captured the essence of joy and community that the nursery has fostered over the years.

The day began with giggles and amazement, courtesy of Krazy Kev, a children’s entertainer who kept little ones—and maybe a few grown-ups—enthralled with his antics. As the day rolled on, the afternoon brought an extra dose of excitement with Mad for Animals, a wild and interactive animal show featuring everything from slithery snakes to a majestic owl and even a tarantula! (Brave souls only, please!)

It was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces as past customers joined the festivities. Some of the children who first toddled through the doors back in 2010 came back—now towering above the staff—to reminisce and join in the fun.

Party Vibes All Around 🥳

No birthday party is complete without a feast, and First Steps delivered with party food galore! A disco brought energy and groove to the celebrations, with thanks to @lightupyourlife, who provided dazzling disco lights and a glowing light-up number “15” that perfectly set the scene.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, BH Balloons graced the nursery with a beautiful birthday balloon arch, while @mackiescupcakery sweetened the occasion with delectable cupcakes. Each one was topped with the nursery's iconic footprint logo—a thoughtful and delicious nod to 15 years of little steps turning into big strides.
